The black tall duck who was called Mochi by his friends, walked away immediately after picking up a piece of bread dropped just for her. A full slice was more than she expected and she went on her way, done with the humans who throw crumbs solely for the entertainment of watching him eat. Hiding behind the first tree was her four ducklings. The bread was for all of them. A few trees passed and Mochi's family settled at a small playground within the large park they lived in, ready to have at the whole slice. "Mweee," moments before her first bite Mochi heard a small noise, "mwee!"
Mochi looked around, swallowed and took a second bite. Her children didn't notice the noise and kept pecking little pieces off. "Mweee! Mweee, mweeeee, mweee!" picking up her bread, Mochi walked closer to the playground's objects, investigating the, "mweee," that repeated itself. A cry for help. Her ducklings remained close behind.
A small, round, white ball of fluff was sitting under the slide in the bark, and Mochi realized the noise was coming from this small animal; that it was a cry.
"Ohhhh," Mochi's immediate reaction dropped the bread from her mouth, "don't cry," she walked up next to the kitten, lowering his head to be level with the kitten's. The ducklings ignored the slice of bread on the ground and watched as their mother spoke to strange thing, "what's the matter?"

A few sobs came before an answer, "I lost my master, I don't know what to do!" the voice was nearly as small as it's cry. Another, "mweeee!" came and the kitten's eyes closed for the duration of the cry.
Mochi looked around, there were no humans in sight. back to the kitten, "say, why don't you come with me?"
A sniffle from the kitten stopped it's crying for a moment, and it looked at the ducklings, "all of you?"
The mother looked at her children, "yes, we could all be a family!" her little ducks all started chirping in excitement. Mochi picked up the bread and dropped it for the kitten, "lets eat."
The birds watched intently if the kitten would eat their food. It hesitantly took a nibble from the bread and began to slowly chew it. A smile came to the corner of it's mouth, and it took a bigger bite, keeping it's face in the bread. A gentle purr.
The ducklings all chirped and ran to the bread, nibbling more pieces. Mochi took a piece for herself, and silently welcomed a new member to the family.
